Im River 30 km from the mouth

Bichi River

Bichi River is 188 miles long. The river flows in a wide valley through forest and tundra into the huge and shallow Udyl Lake , one of the biggest water bodies of the Amur drainage. Udyl Lake is connected with Amur by a 12 miles long channel, which comes to the main river from the left bank, about 100 miles from the Sea of Okhotsk .

Bichi is rather slow, its water is colored. The river has network of sloughs and former channels, and several log-jams, which might require portage. Bichi River is famous by big and numerous population of Siberian taimen. I think it is one of the best taimen rivers in the world. During last few years several fish in 70+ pound range were landed here by gear-fishermen. A 56” taimen landed here with a fly in 2005 is the Russian fly-record.
